Our purpose is to grow the community by fostering a strong business environment. The Chamber is a vital organization to the community and has the ability to speak for you, promote your ideals, protect your business through governmental advocacy, and help the local economy.

The Chamber’s mission can be summed up in four simple words: Support. Promote. Protect. Business. Your business needs a strong advocate to support and promote your business ideals and we are that voice.

The Chamber supports its members by encouraging free market ideals. It promotes the business philosophy with information and by promoting free enterprise and best practices through seminars, meetings and events. It protects members by lobbying at the local and state government arenas and by making sure the government does no harm. The Chamber is all about business, and helping businesses and helping the community’s economy grow by ensuring a strong business environment.

The Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) private not for profit organization devoted to the improvement of business conditions in the Harlingen Area. A 501 (c)(6) is defined by the IRS as “an association of persons having some common business interest. Its purpose must be to promote this common business interest and its activities must be directed to the improvement of business conditions.”
