Join us for the 18th annual Jalapeño Hundred Bicycle Ride and for the first time, Running Event. The Jalapeño Hundred has been a fun ride benefitting Harlingen Youth Athletics, Harlingen Boys & Girls Club and other select not for profit organizations. The 2008 event is expected to be hotter than ever with the inclusion of a run on Sunday with cash prize opportunities. While the Saturday ride is strictly for fun, you are invited to test your endurance against our South Texas winds. Also, fun family activities are being planned, inlcuding a trolley tour of Harlingen, so bring the whole famility. Over 400 riders and runners from around the state, across the country, and Mexico are expected to attend. We hope you can join us!

The start and finish will be at Oil Mill Pavilion. From west, exit Lewis Lane and take Spur 54 to Fair Park. From south take Expressway 77 and exit Tyler Ave/Fair Park Blvd. go east on Jefferson about one mile. From north, exit Fair Park Blvd. Oil Mill Pavilion will be on your right past the auditorium. By law and for your safety and protection, you must abide by all traffic laws throughout the ride. For your safety an approved helmet must be worn. If Rest stops will be approximately every 10-12 miles and specific distances will be marked on the map. Water, fruit, liquids, and other snacks will be provided to registered riders. SAG vehicles and repair vehicles will patrol all routes to help with mechanical trouble or to return riders with problems to the headquarters. Be prepared to handle your own flat tires and minor problems. Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an authorized adult. A waiver must be signed by the parent before the day of the event. Bring the whole family for family fun. If they are not riding along with you, have them enjoy Jalapeño Tattoos (temporary) for children and adults. Making his debut this year, Jalapeño Jack will be available for photos. Trolley Rides through town, Moon Jump Castles, Bean Bag Toss and other activities are also being planned.
