Education
The Harlingen
area offers school age children, college students, adults and
employers a broad selection of educational choices. Local public
schools, private schools, technical, medical and community
colleges/universities, continued education programs, government
funding agencies and career training organizations cooperate in
partnerships benefiting families, citizens and business.
The Harlingen
Consolidated Independent School District is committed to
making district schools “great places to learn,” and have earned the
“Recognized District” distinction from the Texas Education Agency
for seven consecutive years. All 21 schools have been either TEA
Exemplary or Recognized during the past four years. The latest TAKS
scores place Harlingen above the state and region in 3rd
through 11th grade testing, with significant increases in
scores in all test areas.
The Harlingen
Area also offers quality private school education from the primary
levels to high school and college preparatory level institutions of
learning.
