Harlingen Rising Leaders was developed in 1995 in partnership with HCISD’s Parental Involvement Department. The goal of the program is to develop interpersonal/leadership skills and build self-confidence in participating high school students. The Chamber assists in planning and implementation of one session, “Our Community at Work,” Orientation and the Graduation Ceremony—for 30 students from all 3 Harlingen high schools.
The Harlingen Rising Leaders planning committee is overseen by the Harlingen school district (specifically Dr. Jose Luis Cavazos, Parental Involvement Director, and his staff. Our input, participation and financial assistance are limited to three sessions: orientation, quality of life sessions and the graduation ceremony
